For real-time NASBA® Amplification
Detection and Typing of Herpes Simplex Virus
Type 1 & 2 (HSV-1 & HSV-2) DNA

(NASBA: Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification)

A Complete Molecular Solution

After isolating the target DNA from the sample using the NucliSENS® magnetic extraction platforms, the NucliSENS EasyQ® HSV 1/2 assay is run directly on the automated NucliSENS EasyQ® analyzer.

The combination of NucliSENS EasyQ® HSV 1/2 Reagents with the two platforms and associated reagents provides a complete and standardized molecular testing solution.

Easy-to-Use

The CE marked NucliSENS EasyQ® HSV 1/2 Reagents and platform can easily be used in routine by all laboratories and full technical support is offered through the bioMérieux network.

Conclusive

The kit generates a conclusive and consequently truly useful result.
A positive result means that HSV-1 or HSV-2 DNA is present in the sample with a type specific detection for efficient patient management.
A negative result is systematically validated by the presence of a homologous internal control, providing an incomparable level of quality assurance.

Same-day result

The total turn-around-time from extraction to final result is approximately 3 hours, giving a same-day result. This rapid result responds to the urgent clinical need of both the physician and patient.

High Sensitivity and Specificity

Using magnetic extraction, this assay detects 84 copies of in vitro transcribed HSV-1 DNA per nucleic acid extract (equivalent of 4 herpes simplex virus type 1 DNA copies per μl extract) and 138 copies of in vitro transcribed HSV-2 DNA per nucleic acid extract (equivalent of 6 herpes simplex virus type 2 DNA copies per μl extract) with a 95% hit rate(1).

No cross-reactivity was shown for EBV, CMV, VZV, HHV6, HHV7 and HHV8, coxsackievirus A7, A9, B1, B3 and B6, echovirus 25, 32 and 33 and enterovirus 68, 69, 70 and 71, indicating that the assay is specific for HSV-1 and HSV-2(1,2).
