Rapid test for the detection of HIV infection

The VIKIA HIV1/2 test device is a rapid test based on the immuno-chromatography technique (ICT or lateral flow) for the detection of serum antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2 in human serum, plasma, or whole blood.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a RNA retrovirus which is mainly transmitted by parenteral, perinatal, or transplacental pathways, or through sexual contact.

During 2006, 4.3 million individuals were newly infected by HIV. At the end of 2006, an estimated 39.5 million people will be living infected with the AIDS Virus.
